Sleepy Hollow Blood Drive Honors Yorktown Boy

SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – The Fraternal Order of Eagles and the New York Blood Center are encouraging residents to give blood this Thursday in honor of a 9-year-old Yorktown boy.

Jake Quinn has been battling leukemia for the past 14 months and is “a warrior of unflinching strength and courage,” the New York Blood Center said.

The blood drive will take place at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 322 North Broadway in Sleepy Hollow.

Residents who wish to give blood must be between the ages of 16 and 75 and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Residents over the age of 75 may donate blood with a note from their physician. Donors who are 16 years old require a parental permission form which will be available at the blood drive.

The New York Blood Center asks that all donors eat and be well hydrated before giving blood. They also ask that donors bring identification with a photo or signature.

For medical eligibility questions, call 1-800-688-0900.
