YORKTOWN, N.Y.--Kyle Jabusch, the Mohegan Lake teen who has been missing since Monday, left a note at his home before he disappeared, Yorktown Police confirmed Wednesday.
Lt. Robert Noble said there was a note, but said police were not releasing its contents. Noble also said that Jabusch had once before left home like he did Monday.
"There had been a prior occasion, but, he did return after that," Noble said.
Fliers posted around Yorktown and on Facebook say Jabusch wrote that he was never coming back home.
"The following morning they found a note from Kyle saying he was leaving and never coming back home," it said. "All calls to Kyle's cell phone have been going unanswered, and it appears it has been shut off."
The flier urges anyone with information about the missing 18-year-old, who is described as 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes to call Yorktown Police at 914-962-4141.
Police are following up on any and all tips aggressively, Noble said. He said police are still reaching out to acquaintances and checking locations Jabusch has been known to frequent.
"We are treating this very seriously, he hasn't come home yet and we're concerned about his safety," Noble said. "We are working on this 24-hours a day."
Noble said police were not aware of how Jabusch left the home in the early hours of Monday morning, but said that no cars were missing from the residence.
According to police, Jabusch lived in the Morris Lane home with his parents and brother. Noble said the parents have been "very cooperative and very concerned."
