Police Apprehend Suspect After Car Theft In Jefferson Valley

JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police apprehended a suspect in a car theft Friday morning.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. at the Valley Market in Jefferson Valley when a woman called to report her car was stolen. After giving a description of the vehicle, Yorktown Police located it after a brief search.

The suspect then abandoned the vehicle, according to police, and a foot pursuit followed after the suspect abandoned the vehicle on Benjamin Boulevard. Yorktown Police then set up a perimeter and the suspect was apprehended a short time later on Gregory Street.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been confirmed, Yorktown Police said.
