“It’s a partnership that I'm proud of,’’ said Viders, who is working with Lisa Shrewsberry on the Nov. 2 event, which will be held at Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco. “Volunteering for the hospital is something we embrace as a family. Northern Westchester Hospital is a tremendous organization; everything is so streamlined and efficient. Any volunteer project with the hospital is rewarding.”
Viders has been involved in other fundraising events, but had not previously worked on the gala. “It’s been really interesting to see how it all gets done on the back end,’’ Viders said. “We’ve supported the hospital by attending the gala the past five years, so it’s nice to have an insider’s perspective and to lend a hand behind the scenes.”
The theme for the gala, which supports new operating rooms at Northern Westchester Hospital, is Soirée à Paris. Viders said the committee quickly agreed it was a fitting theme. She said the planning process went smoothly, and volunteers associated with past events were quick to lend their expertise.
Viders lives in Pound Ridge with her husband, Zach, and three children. The reward for her is supporting a hospital that is an integral part of the community with services that are second-to-none.
“I think it’s one of our most precious community assets,’’ Viders said. “The quality of care is truly remarkable, all of the rooms are private, and it’s all right here in our backyard. The doctors who provide your care are the same people you’ll see the next day at your kid’s soccer game or track meet – they are very much a part of the community. It’s more than my husband and I could have ever asked for.”
