The company will first present Ruggero Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci." One of the most famous operas, "Pagliacci" tells the tale of a love triangle among street circus clowns that ends in horrific tragedy. "Pagliacci" will be performed in Italian with English supertitles.

Taconic Opera will perform "Trial by Jury" for the second part of the program. The one-act opera by Gilbert and Sullivan will serve as a comedic antidote to the heartbreaking tragedy of "Pagliacci." It will be performed in English.

"Will Taconic Opera perform this work traditionally? Not on your life,” said General Director Dan Montez. “We will be updating this wonderful show as a combination of Judge Judy and Jerry Springer. Every line in the show fits this update perfectly and opens up so many hilarious possibilities.”

This double bill will take place at the Yorktown Stage on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. Yorktown Stage is at 1974 Commerce St. in Yorktown Heights.
