Yonkers Announces Closures, Parking Restrictions For Tuesday's Snowstorm

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Many Yonkers schools, churches and other facilities will close early on Tuesday and several parking restrictions will be in place as the snowstorm moves into the area.

Early Dismissals and Closures:

  • Yonkers Public Schools – Public schools that begin at 7:30 a.m. will dismiss at 11 a.m.; schools that begin at 8:30 a.m. will dismiss at noon
  • Bryn Mawr Children’s Learning Center – 11:30 a.m.
  • Children’s Playhouse of Park Hill – 3 p.m.
  • Children’s Playhouse of Yonkers – 3 p.m.
  • Creative Play Childcare – noon
  • Hudson View Christian Academy – noon
  • Sacred Heart High School – 11:45 a.m.
  • Saint Eugene – 11:30 a.m.
  • Small World North – 1 p.m.
  • Saint Ann – noon
  • Saint Anthony – noon
  • Saint John the Baptist – noon
  • Saint Mark’s Lutheran – noon
  • Saint Paul the Apostle – noon
  • Yonkers Christian Academy – noon

Parking Restrictions

  • Alternate side parking rules are suspended for today, Tuesday, January 21 and tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22; however residents are strongly encouraged to park in their driveway or garage, where possible
  • Metered parking will remain in effect
  • As always, residents should not park on designated snow emergency routes

Program Cancellations:

  • All Parks Department programs will close at noon, including:
  • All Senior Programs and Senior Centers
  • Day and evening Parks Recreation Programs at Parks Department Com
  • Centers Department Community Centers and Yonkers Public Schools
  • Aquatics at Mark Twain and Yonkers Avenue Pools
  • Project Friendship/ Young Adult Club
  • Indoor Permit Holders at Yonkers Public Schools
  • Lessons at Murray’s Skating Rink
  • The Yonkers Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled
  • The YONY Tech Initiative Creative Meet-up scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled
  • The Third Precinct Meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled
