Long Section Of Busy Roadway To Close For Week In Westchester
A long section of a major US route in Northern Westchester will soon close for a little more than a week, leaving travelers with no option but to take a detour. Beginning on Thursday, March 16, the section of US Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) between State Route 9D and US Route 9 in Cortlandt will close on weekdays in both directions between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the New York State Department of Transportation. Expect Delays: Closures Planned For Stretch Of Road In Westchester County
State officials have advised Westchester County motorists to be prepared for delays ahead of a planned road closure. The New York State Department of Transportation said motorists should expect Route 6/202 (Bear Mountain Bridge Road) to close in both directions between State Route 9D and US Route 9 in Cortlandt from Tuesday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 1. The closures are set to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to facilitate maintenance activities, officials said. Four Westchester Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops
Nearly two dozen local residents were among those busted by New York State Police troopers for alleged impaired driving in the area. Hudson Valley and Fairfield County residents charged include: Dutchess County On Friday, Dec. 13, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Omar Gomez Florentino, 21, of Pleasant Valley, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on State Route 44 in the town of Pleasant Valley, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Nine Westchester Residents Charged With Driving While Impaired
With local and state police agencies cracking down on drunk, drugged and distracted driving, several local residents were among nearly two dozen in the area who found themselves on the wrong side of the law. As part of the STOP-DWI crackdown, State Police troopers busted several motorists for driving while intoxicated as they attempt to stop motorists from drinking and driving in the area.
