Federal Oversight Ends For Yonkers Police Department After Major Reforms A police department in Westchester has implemented enough major reforms to result in the conclusion of federal oversight after years of monitoring, officials announced. In an announcement on Tuesday, Dec. 3, the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York revealed that oversight of the Yonkers Police Department has officially ended following significant reforms made to improve its policies, training, and community engagement. Yonkers Native Appointed As County's New Public Safety Commissioner County Executive George Latimer has appointed Tom Gleason as the new Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, and Terrance Raynor as the new Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety. The selection was announced at a Friday, Aug. 3 news conference in White Plains.
