Yonkers Raceway 'Betting On A New Audience,' Report Says

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Raceway has brought back the $1 million International Trot, a race that historically has drawn the finest race horses from Norway, Sweden, France and elsewhere, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The decision to again run the 1 1/4-mile race comes about a year after Yonkers joined with French racing authorities to ensure such races are simulcast in Europe, according to the report.

According to the paper, the $1 million International Trot was first launched in the United States in 1959. In 1988, the race moved to Yonkers. It last was run in 1995, according to the report.
