Wilson-King, who played through the death of his father in early October to help Saunders to its best record in nearly 25 years, rushed for more than 1,200 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He helped lift the Blue Devils to their first Section 1 postseason playoff berth.
"I think that Saunders football team program had a great year," Wilson-King said. "We improved in every way and I think that the seniors have set a great foundation for the Saunders program."
Wilson-King said the team's 6-3 record, new all-sports turf field that was completed after the season ended and a committed coaching staff led by second-year head coach Mel Carozza, are positives for the future.
"I think we leave with unfinished business, but I don't feel as if it's a bad thing because now at least we leave knowing that the team has a great coach, new fresh turf field and support from the school," Wilson-King said.
The senior football star already is into the winter track season where he is one of the top sprinters in the area.
"I'm excited about the track season and have a goal to qualify for the state meet," Wilson-King said.
