Saunders Football Falls, Looks Ahead To Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Despite suffering its first loss of the season at Brewster Friday night, the Saunders football team already is refocused and preparing for an intra-city battle against Yonkers High School next Saturday.

The Blue Devils, now 3-1 after the 20-0 setback to the still unbeaten Bears, played well on defense but experienced an offensive stall.

"Our defensive offensive line has been breaking down and tackling well," Saunders lead running back Francisco Wilson-King said. "We're going to work on everything, get better this week and be ready for Yonkers."

Wilson-King scored eight touchdowns in the Devils' first three wins. Wilson-King and quarterback Kristian Prenga hope to get the offense back on track this week as Saunders continues its push to make the playoffs against winless Yonkers at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"We need to execute better as an offense and limit our mistakes," Prenga said. "Yeah, this lost made the team strong and more determine to win out and make the playoffs."
