Poll: Should Steroid Era Stars Be Sent To Cooperstown?

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Major League Baseball record holders Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and Sammy Sosa, each tainted by steroid use, have been denied entry to baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

No players were elected to the Hall of Fame for only the second time in 40 years.

The Baseball Writers' Association of America voters failed to elect any of the eligible candidates for only the second time in 40 years, according to results released Wednesday.

Bonds and Clemens each received votes from 37 percent of the writers and Sosa was named on 12 percent of the ballots. Each player will be eligible for 14 more years to be voted in.

A player needs to be on 75 percent of the ballots to be enshrined.

Of the first-year eligible players, Craig Biggio, 20th on the career list with 3,060 hits, received 68.2 percent, former New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza received 57.8 percent and Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling got 38.8 percent.
