Yonkers Student One Of 15 Presidential Scholars At Geneseo

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers native Elyssa Ramirez was just one of 15 students from the State University of New York at Geneseo to be named a Presidential Scholar for the 2013-14 school year.

As a Presidential Scholar Remirez is recognized as a top-achieving member of the senior class who exemplifies Geneseo's institutional values and also serves as a student ambassador for the college.

To receive the honor, Ramierez had to maintain minimum grade point average of 3.6 and demonstrate an active involvement with the community. She was nominated by faculty members and reviewed by a panel of faculty and students before being recommended to the provost for final approval.
