The board, which would manage $2 billion in reconstruction projects in Yonkers schools, would have the ability to issue bonds and manage other aspects of the work, according to lohud.com, which reported that the reconstruction efforts are expected to take about 13 years.

Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, D-Yonkers, said the legislation provides the groundwork for reconstructing the schools and that she was "confident" it would have the support of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, according to lohud.com.

Lawmakers are hopeful the bill will be passed before the end of the legislative session on Thursday, according to lohud.com.
