The blaze happened on Friday morning, July 28 just before 8:30 a.m., when the driver of a Yonkers Department of Public Works truck traveling on Stew Leonard Drive noticed that smoke was coming out of the front of the vehicle, according to Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio.
The driver then pulled over and got out of the truck to inspect the source of the smoke when the vehicle suddenly caught fire and became completely engulfed, DiDomizio said.
The cause of the blaze is now under investigation by the Yonkers Fire Department.
