With just 15 of 100 precincts reporting, Spano – running on the Democratic and Working Families line – held a commanding lead over Nuckel, with an early vote count of 1,927 to 486.
A lifelong Yonkers resident, Spano has passed two consecutive bi-partisan budgets in Yonkers. During his first term, he engendered himself to constituents through his support of education and ability to keep property taxes under the state cap.
Spano thanked voters for supporting his second mayoral run in the city he calls home.
"Because of your support, we earned a resounding victory and I now have the privilege to serve as your mayor for another four years," he said. "Four years ago, we set out to move #Yonkers in a new direction and we have. We turned around the city’s finances,” he wrote.
“We put an end to the unsustainable, year-to-year tax hikes and kept property taxes within the cap. We worked with developers and neighborhood groups to move projects forward, and now there is a $1 billion building boom in Yonkers. We restored full-day pre-K. Our city has never been safer and municipalities in Westchester County and beyond are taking notice.”
