“Art gives the men and women in our program an avenue to express themselves,” said Ruth Tokarczyk, Director of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Services at Leake & Watts. “Many of adults are non-verbal or have limited verbal skills, yet they speak through these pieces. The works are beautiful and creative.”
The artists' works were on display at the Yonkers Riverfront Public Library reception, and the artists discussed their works' meaning to reception guests.
The Leake & Watts Day Habilitation Program provides opportunities for growth and community participation to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
