Mayer, a Democrat who ran unopposed, represents the City of Yonkers. Mayer was first elected to the state assembly in a special election in March 2012.

In a questionnaire earlier this month, the Yonkers native said ensuring students have access to a quality education, ensuring good jobs for residents of Yonkers and improving Yonkers’ fiscal situation were the three most pressing issues in the 90th district.
