YONKERS, N.Y. A Yonkers woman who authorities say violently shook her infant son and caused serious injuries on more than one occasion was arrested Wednesday.
Brandy Niemiec, 19, of Glenwood Avenue, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted on two counts of reckless assault of a child, a felony.
Prosecutors say Niemiec shook her 6-month-old son twice, first on Aug. 23 and again on Aug. 25, as she put the child to sleep. In the felony complaint, police say Niemiec told them she heard cracking coming from the boys body.
Police said the child suffered from hemorrhaging and a fractured rib as a result of the incidents. Niemiec was expected to be arraigned in Yonkers City Court Thursday, where bail will be set.
