Yonkers Police Search For Mystery Suspect

YONKERS, N.Y. – Police are searching for a mystery man they say was lounging on a Yonkers fire escape before he evaded officers in a foot chase.

After responding to calls of a suspicious person in the area of 85 Bronx River Road Monday at 11:50 p.m., police say they saw the man sitting on a third-floor fire escape.

When officers approached, the man ran down the escape and onto Bronx River Road, police said. There, he climbed a fence to the Bronx River Parkway and crossed the parkway into a wooded area on the Mount Vernon/Bronx border, according to police.

Both the New York Police Department and Mount Vernon Police Department were called and a search of the area was conducted, but the man was not found, Yonkers Police said.

Police said their initial investigation has not revealed reports of entries or burglaries at any of the apartments in the building.

The man was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 22 years old, 150 pounds, and 5 feet 9 inches tall. Police are continuing to seek his identity and ask anyone with information to contact the Detective Division at 914-377-7724.
