Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to a Riverdale Avenue apartment building at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, following reports of a gun being fired in the area.
Upon arrival, police said that they found blood in the first-floor hallway, which led to an apartment, where the victim, a Yonkers resident, was found with gunshot wounds to his jaw and left shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting came just hours after police investigated a separate shooting incident near the intersection of Herriot Street and Jackson Street.
Police said that the preliminary investigation determined that the victim was home when he left his apartment and encountered an unknown suspect, who produced a handgun and fired at him, striking him twice. Investigators noted that the two may have known each other.
Anyone with information regarding the Riverdale Avenue shooting has been asked to contact the Yonkers Police Department Detective Division by calling (914) 377-7724.
