Yonkers Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Mooney Place Blaze

YONKERS, N.Y. - Yonkers Avenue was temporarily shut down in both directions as the Yonkers Fire Department battled a blaze near the intersection at Mooney Place.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to 10 Mooney Place, where there was a confirmed major structure fire at an apartment building. Within a half hour, firefighters reported that the fire had been extinguished and they were checking for pockets of fire.

Fire officials said that all occupants were evacuated from the building. No injuries were immediately reported. The extent of the damage to the building was unclear. Keep following Daily Voice for updates.
