The woman told troopers that she and the suspect dated in high school but she had not had any contact with him since then, as Daily Voice first reported Tuesday.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, state police were dispatched to the home after being alerted to a burglary in progress when a woman reported that a male acquaintance was attempting to enter her home against her will.
According to police, upon arrival, troopers reported that the front door of the home was forced open and Yonkers resident Peter Kennelly was on the second floor with metal knuckles, attempting to punch his way into a room where the female victim had barricaded herself.
Further investigation into the incident determined that Kennelly had also damaged a second-story window by throwing a rock through it and used a rock to damage a vehicle parked in a driveway, police said.
Kennelly was arrested and charged with felony counts of first-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned, then remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or bond. Kennelly is due back in the Town of Cortlandt Court on Friday, April 14.
