Police Say Driver Was Drunk In Yonkers Crash

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A Yonkers man that caused a fatal accident on the corner of Riverdale and Franklin avenue stands accused of driving drunk, according to LoHud.com.

A Yonkers man involved in a fatal car accident on Sunday, Oct. 20 is accused of driving while intoxicated.

Mario Garcia-Sura, 49, of 77 Locust Hill Avenue was driving a 2001 Ford when he collided with a 2004 Hyundai driven by Sreeraj Chandran, 19. Chandran was killed in the accident. Garcia-Sura is in critical condition. A passenger who was not identified in Garcia-Sura's car is in stable condition at an area hospital, according to LoHud.com.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 and is still under investigation. Charges against Garcia-Sura could be elevated pending the outcome of the investigation, according to LoHud.com.
