The teen, who was not identified due to his age, was accused of shooting a 57-year-old woman in the back Friday as she entered her car along Van Cortlandt Park Avenue, the reports said. The woman was not seriously injured.
Police later found the boy and recovered a pellet gun, six CO2 cartridges used for powering air guns, and ammunition for an air gun, according to Newsday.
The teen was charged with multiple crimes, including second-degree assault, and was expected to appear in Yonkers Family Court on Monday, the Journal News reported.
Since April 2, six women have been shot in Yonkers with either a BB gun or pellet gun. At least three of those shootings took place on the corner of Riverdale Avenue and Prospect Street, involving victims as young as 17-years-old, reports said.
Two others took place on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue while a third occurred on North Broadway and Odell Avenue. Police have not charged the teen in connection with five other shootings.
