On Friday, Yonkers Police Det. Lt. Patrick McCormack announced that his department had launched an extensive investigation in the 1st Precinct after a woman reported the attempted robbery and sexual assault, prompting a strong police response.
According to police, shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, a 19-year-old Yonkers resident was approached while sitting in her vehicle on Pennsylvania Avenue by the suspect, who was dressed in all black and wearing a black ski mask.
The suspect made entry into the passenger side of the vehicle and produced a handgun before fleeing the area on foot, police said.
The incident prompted an extensive search of the area by uniformed officers, K-9 Units and the Westchester County Aviation Unit to no avail. According to McCormack, the Detective Division is actively investigating the incident.
