YONKERS, N.Y. -- A former Yonkers narcotics police officer was sentenced to six months of weekends in county jail on Thursday after pleading guilty to perjury, according to Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

Neil Vera, 35,  of Yonkers, was sentenced today to six months of weekends at the County Jail on his April 23rd, 2015 guilty plea to: • one count of Perjury in the Second Degree, a class “E” Felony, • two counts of Official Misconduct, class “A” Misdemeanors.

On March 21, 2014, the defendant, acting in concert with Christian Koch, 39, of Yonkers, made false statements to a city judge with the intent of misleading him in order to obtain a warrant, the district attorney said.

Additionally, on May 20th, 2014, Vera asked a person identified to the Grand Jury to lie to investigators and provide a false written statement to police officers of the Internal Affairs Division of the City of Yonkers Police Department.

He asked that individual to make a false statement to the Yonkers Police Internal Affairs investigators identifying himself/herself as an individual who had performed controlled narcotics buys at 141 School Street in support of the search warrant, when in fact this was completely false, the district attorney said.

Vera pled guilty last month to charges of second-degree perjury and two counts of official misconduct.

Koch also pled guilty to one count of second-degree perjury and one count of official misconduct. He will be sentenced on Sept. 10, the district attorney said.
