Fire Displaces Three Yonkers Residents

Updated 12:30 P.M. YONKERS, N.Y. – Three Yonkers residents have been displaced after a fire caused significant damage to a two-story building on West Delano Avenue on Saturday morning, Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief John Flynn said.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Travers said an electrical fire began around 8:30 a.m. in a second-story bedroom at 240 W. Delano Ave., with the fire spreading to clothing and a bed. Firefighters extinguished the fire around 9 a.m. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.  

Red Cross and the Yonkers Office of Emergency Management have been notified about relocation of the families.

Flynn said the damage was fairly significant, but the building could be repaired.
