A family of six was displaced and six firefighters suffered injuries after a three-alarm fire that broke out in a vacant three-story structure spread to an adjacent home in Yonkers late Thursday afternoon.

About 60 members of the Yonkers Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 100 Clinton St. at 4:50  p.m., according to Yonkers FD Deputy Chief Joseph DeLasho.

The fire appears to have started on the outside of the structure on the lower floor and extended up to the roof area and also extended to the upper floor/roof area of 102 Clinton St., DeLasho said.

The fire went to three alarms bringing 16 fire companies and the 60 fire personnel to the scene.

The fire was declared under control in about an hour and a half.

The family of six people was displaced from 102 Clinton and are being aided by Red Cross.

The six firefighters' injuries were classified as minor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious.
