The police helicopter was apparently struck by a bird on Friday, June 9,, Westchester County Police spokesman Kieran O’Leary said on Monday, prompting the pilots to make a temporary stop in Coyne Park as a precaution.

Once they landed, members from the Aviation Unit checked the helicopter, determined there was no damage or resulting safety issue and took off.

O’Leary noted that the Yonkers Police Department was notified by the Aviation Unit of the precautionary landing and safeguarded the landing zone before the helicopter made its descent.
