Doc was a dual-certified patrol and Narcotics Detection dog, according to the acknowledgement placed on the Yonkers Police Department Facebook page.
He worked closely with his partner, Officer Mark Wisner.
Doc joined the department on Nov. 5, 2007. During his time with the department, he was involved in numerous felony arrests.
He also performed many demonstrations and received numerous letters of appreciation from school students in Yonkers and the surrounding area.
A paragon of his kind, he earned many accolades competing in K-9 trials sponsored by the United States Police K-9 Association.
According to the post, in 2011, Doc placed seventh in the nation in Narcotics Detection in Mississippi. He also placed fourth team in the nation in Patrol Technique in Louisiana.
By the end of his career, he received one commendation, three certificates of excellent police work, and two unit citations. He has also received five "excellent police awards," from the United States Police Canine Association and 17 citations from the United States Police Canine Association.
Doc will be spending his well-earned retirement living with his handler's family, according to the post.
