YONKERS, N.Y. - The Yonkers Police Department is asking the community for assistance as they search for a man who has run off from St. John’s Riverside Hospital.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, staff from St. John’s Riverside Hospital notified the Yonkers Police Department Communications Division that patient Joseph Sutera, 62, had left the hospital without alerting any members of the staff, prompting a citywide search.
Members of the fourth precinct of the Yonkers Police Department and other investigators have been busy canvassing the area, and have inquired about other possible destinations Sutera may have fled to. They’ve also created a missing person poster that has been disseminated throughout the community.
According to police, Sutera “has mental health concerns and has gone missing in the past.” In an incident in the past, he was reported missing and was eventually located in Getty Square in Yonkers.
Sutrera has been described as a white male that is six feet tall, weighing roughly 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The Yonkers Police Department has asked anyone with information about Sutera to call detectives at (914) 377-7900 in relation to case number 16079363.
