He was born July 8, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to William S. and Maggie Beattie Lumsden. He graduated from Fordham University with a degree in accounting. He served in the Army and later worked as a certified public accountant.
Lumsden traveled as an auditor for Hurdman & Cranston for 16 years. He joined Financial Institutions Retirement Fund in 1971 as controller and later became treasurer. He married Yvonne Duvall Drury in 1976.
He enjoyed his retirement by volunteering at Mamaroneck United Methodist Church, the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force Food Pantry and Sarah Neuman Nursing Home. He enjoyed traveling and golf and was a fan of the New York Giants.
Lumsden is survived by his wife of 36 years. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Mamaroneck United Methodist Church.
