Timothy Case, 44, Former Yonkers Raceway Trainer

YONKERS, N.Y. – Timothy Daniel Case, a former Yonkers Raceway horse trainer, of Middletown, N.Y., died July 28. He was 44. 

Case was born Dec. 31, 1967, in Lewiston, Maine. Taught by his father, Walter, he jogged his first horse at the age of six. During his career as a horse trainer, Case trained over 1,700 winners with a purse worth more than $9.5 million. 

In 2007, his most successful season, Case's horses earned nearly $2 million. Locally, he was the leading horse trainer at Yonkers Raceway for three seasons, from 2003 to 2005.

Case is survived by his wife, Dolores Domenique Basilone-Case; his mother, Carol Meira Case; two brothers, Walter (Luann) Case and Steven Case; a sister, Kelly (David) Case-Ingraham; his mother-in-law, C.C. Pecora; his father-in-law, Sal Basilone; his close friend, Steve Ralph; an aunt and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Casimir's Church in Yonkers. Burial will be private.
