Stephen Roberts, 68, Retired Yonkers Board Of Education Employee

YONKERS, N.Y. - Stephen Roberts, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Monday, Sept. 23. He was 68.

Roberts was born Dec. 13, 1944, son of David and Veronica (Bybel) Roberts. He served in the U.S. Army's Special Forces Unit during the Vietnam War. He worked for John Bisesi Studios of Yonkers, Sound Distributing of Mt. Vernon and the Yonkers Board of Education, retiring in 2008 after 20 years of service.

Roberts is survived by his brother, David (Maria) of Yonkers; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Sandra (Roberts) Tamas.

Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen and Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at St. Anthony's Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
