Ralph M. Acquafredda, 97, of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Ralph M. Acquafredda, of Yonkers, died on March 7. He was 97.

An Air Force veteran, Acquafredda was born in New York City. He retired from the New York City Transit Authority in 1983 and enjoyed working at Yonkers Raceway.

He was devoutly Catholic and an active member of the Coyne Park Senior Center. "Ralph believed in being exceptionally kind and loving," information from the funeral home notes. "He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who cared deeply for others."

Acquafredda is survived by his daughter, Victoria Assumma; grandsons Daniel Ralph and Thomas Joseph Assumma; goddaughter Felicia Pasculli; and "adopted" daughter Sondra Ruiz and her daughter Mia.

He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Margaret; son Thomas; parents Gaetano and Maria Acquafredda; and siblings Victor Acquafredda and Carmela De'Fabio.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at Sinatra Funeral Home, 315 S. Broadway, in Yonkers. A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at St. John the Baptist Church, in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, in White Plains. Asssumma-Shankey Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
