YONKERS, N.Y. - Philip J. Lohrfink of Yonkers died Saturday, July 13. He was 72.
Lohrfink was born on June 19, 1941, in Yonkers, to Philip H. and Anah Fowler Lohrfink. He attended School 16 and graduated from Gorton High School in 1959. He joined the Marine Corps. upon graduation and became a member of the elite 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company. He graduated from Mercy College and was a 40 year employee of Gannett Suburban Newspapers, now known as the Journal News.
He coached Little League, softball, and baseball at Bryn Mawr, football and baseball at the Colts Club, and girls softball at CYO. He was a member of three parishes, Christ the King, St. Bartholomew' s where he was a eucharistic minister, and for the last 25 years, Most Holy Trinity where he served on the parish council and was a basso profundo with the choir.
Lohrfink is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Lauren Olinek (John), Jennifer Morfea (Luigi), and Jeffery Lohrfink (Tina); six grandchildren; many cousins; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, July 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16 at Most Holy Trinity Church with Interment to follow at Kensico Cemetery.
