Peter Krentsa, 92, Longtime Yonkers ResIdent, Worked For Lehigh Furnishings

YONKERS, N.Y. - Peter Krentsa, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Friday, July 5. He was 92.

Krentsa was born June 23, 1921, to Frank and Katherine Protsek Krentsa in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was raised in Pound Ridge and educated in Yonkers where he graduated from Saunders Trade and Technical School.

Krentsa was a facilities worker for the Westchester County DPW in Valhalla for about 20 years. Previously, he was a cabinet maker at Lehigh Furnishings in Yonkers for many years. He served during World War II. He was stationed in Northern Italy, France and Africa. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony's Church.

Krentsa is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Robert Krentsa (Patricia) of Ontario, Kenneth Krentsa (Maureen) of Stockbridge, Mass., and Jeffrey Krentsa (Kathryn) of Brookfield, Conn.; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Frank and William Krentsa.

Calling hours are Monday, July 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
