YONKERS, N.Y. – Mike Makuch, a longtime Yonkers resident, died Sunday, Nov. 11. He was 84.
Born July 23, 1928, Makuch came to the U.S. in 1964. He worked for Precision Valve Corp., Phelps Dodge and the Westchester County Department of Public Works before retiring in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Melania Smereczniak Makuch; a daughter, Joann (Vincent) Mauro; a son, Andrew Makuch; two sisters, Antonina Gurba and Anna Szarupska, both of Poland; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Yonkers Funeral Service, with a Panahyda service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers.
