YONKERS, N.Y. – Michael Mitrione, a longtime resident of Yonkers, died on Tuesday, June 9. He was 71.
Mitrione was born on July 31, 1943, in Bisaccia, Italy, to Alfredo and Maria Zicola Mitrione, emigrating to the U.S. in 1961 and working as a bricklayer for LaSalla Construction and the Yonkers Public School system.
He is survived by wife Potita; son Alfred and his wife, Rosa, daughter Maria and her husband, Eduardo, siblings Vito Mitrione, Maria Gallo, Geraldine Russo, Gina Silvestri, four grandchildren, Julia and Nicole Garcia and Alexandra and Anthony Mitrione.
He was predeceased by a brother, Guy.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Flower Funeral Home, 714 Yonkers Ave. in Yonkers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Yonkers.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
