Marion Travers, 93, Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Marion Travers, of Yonkers, died on Wednesday, March 2. She was 93.

Born in Yonkers, Travers worked for Bank of Westchester in Yonkers; U.S. Industrial Chemicals; American Can Co.; the Veterans Administration in Juneau, Alaska; Burhan Boiler in Irvington; and Fraitag Plumbing and Sheehan Insurance, both in Yonkers.

She enjoyed photography, sewing, music and loved to travel. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church for over 60 years and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She also served as a lector and Eucharistic minister and choir member.

Travers is survived by several nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and sisters-in-law Betty, Molly and Mary Travers.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank Travers, of County Donegal, Ireland, and Mary (Mangan) Travers, of County Clare, Ireland; sisters Rita Thomas, Lorraine Keays and Irene Dolan; brothers Joseph, Frank, James and Donald; and nephews Joseph Thomas, and James and Martin Keays.

Visiting hours will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., in Yonkers. A mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, in Sacred Heart Church, 110 Shonnard Pl., in Yonkers. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
