YONKERS, N.Y. -- Lucy Valente (nee Castiglione), a lifelong Yonkers resident, died Monday, April 18, at Andrus on Hudson. She was 89.
She was born July 5, 1926, to Angelo and Jennie DiDonato Castiglione in Yonkers, where she was raised and educated. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. On March 27, 1955, she married Raymond J. Valente at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She is survived by one sister, Anna Bova of Yonkers; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband died Oct. 10, 1990. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Rudolph, Victor J., Constantine and Matthew Castiglione; and four sisters, Marie Yacko, Carmella Adamovich, Faye DeMeo and Emily DeMeo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 22, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
