YONKERS, N.Y. – Louis Joseph Pucca of Yonkers, a retired senior engineer with the New York Power Authority, died Thursday, Sept. 3. He was 83.
Pucca was born in 1932 in New York City.
He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in engineering from the University of Rochester.
He served in the U.S. Marines from 1950- 52 at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
As an engineer with the Power Authority, Pucca worked on the environmental systems for such well-known buildings as Grand Central Terminal, the White Plains Public Library, and the Indian Point nuclear power plants.
He was a devout Roman Catholic.
He was an avid birdwatcher, cartoonist and boating enthusiast.
Pucca is survived by his wife, Shinan Gee Helen Pucca, of Washington D.C.; sons, Anthony of White Plains, and Daniel of New York City and ; their wives, MaryBeth Neil-Pucca and Michele Miller, respectively; and two grandchildren, Audrey and Milena.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Home, 732 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 9, at St. Bartholomew Church, 15 Palmer Road, Yonkers. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
