Joseph Correia, 77, Former Yonkers Salesperson

YONKERS, N.Y. – Joseph A. Correia, a former Yonkers resident, died July 2 at his home in Palm Coast, Fla., after spending a weekend with his immediate family. He was 77. 

Correia was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Mount Kisco. He married Joyce Silva on May 9, 1959, at Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers. She died in 1983. Correia was a former vice president of sales for ITT Corp in Palm Coast. He also worked in sales for Gestetner Co. and Saw Mill Iron Works in Yonkers. 

Prior to moving to Yonkers, Correia was the proprietor of Gas and Auto Body Shop in Newark, N.J., where he attended school. 

Correia is survived by a son, Joseph, of New York; two daughters, Christine Correia of Pennsylvania, and Janet Stafford of Florida; two brothers, Justino “Jack” Correia and David Correia, both of New Jersey; a sister, Mary Cardosa, of New Jersey; and six grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Whalen and Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers. A committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Ferncliff Cemetery.
