YONKERS, N.Y. -- John K. O'Connell, a Yonkers resident, died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in New Rochelle. He was 59.
O'Connell was born in Yonkers on Jan. 12, 1956, to John W. and Rose Young O'Connell. He graduated from Lincoln High School.
O'Connell is survived by his siblings, Eileen MacLean of Milford, Penn.; Carol and Martin Hannon of Bethany, Conn.; Peter O'Connell and Janet Falciglia of East Greenwich, R.I.; Larry and Joan O'Connell of Matawan, N.J.; Terri and Joe Scharr of Ridgefield, Conn.
Private funeral arrangements have been made by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, 341 W. 38th Street, New York, NY 10018.
