John 'J.P.' Moroney, 52, Of Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. – John Patrick "J.P." Moroney of Yonkers died Jan. 7. He was 52.

He was born May 9, 1960, in the Bronx. He spent much of his childhood in Freehold, N.J. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1982 and worked in acoustical ceiling tile sales for many years.

Moroney enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Caitlin, going out to eat with friends and spending time with his husband, Bob Reilly, at their lake house in Highland Lakes, N.J.

He is survived by his daughter; his husband; five brothers, Patrick, Thomas (Georgiann) Moroney III, Michael (Albert de Fressin), Kevin (Deborah) and Brian (Teresa); a sister-in-law, Nancy; an aunt; two nieces; and five nephews.

Moroney was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. Moroney Jr., in 2004; his mother, Joan G. Moroney, in 2010; and a brother, Dennis G. Moroney, on Sept. 11, 2001.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
