James William Dempsey, 96, Of Yonkers, Machinist For Ward Leonard

YONKERS, N.Y. - James William Dempsey of Yonkers died Sunday, June 22. He was 96.

Dempsey was a veteran of the Navy who served on the USS Alaska in World War II. He worked as a machinist for Ward Leonard; a school milkman and a volunteer at church.

Dempsey is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Dennis and Kenneth; their wives Trixie and Mary Anne; and five grandchildren.

Calling hours are Tuesday, June 24 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Whalen and Ball. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Yonkers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.
