Francis Reagan, 91, Yonkers Accountant, WWII Veteran

YONKERS, N.Y. – Francis A. Reagan of Yonkers died Nov. 16. He was 91.

Reagan was the chief housing accountant for the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority for more than 50 years.

He was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Yonkers to Frank and Margaret Shost Reagan. Raised in Yonkers, Reagan graduated from Gorton High School in 1939. He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theater as a radio and radar mechanic with the 867th Bombardment Squadron.

Reagan was discharged as a sergeant in November 1945. On April 18, 1948, he married Elizabeth Jansky at Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers. She died Jan. 12, 1997. Prior to his position with the Housing Authority, Regan worked as an auditor for Alex Smith Carpet Shop.

He was a parishioner of Christ the King Church, an active member of the Amackassin Club and a former member of the Chippewa Club and the 32 Club. He remained an avid golfer until recently.

Reagan is survived by a daughter, Donna (John) Tocco of Carmel, N.Y.; a son, Richard (Carol) Reagan of Oneida, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by a son, James "Jimmy" Reagan, on July 11, 2011; a brother, William Reagan; and a sister, Roseanne Nolan.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers.
