He was born Dec. 6, 1951, in Yonkers to Julius and Mary Driscoll Cortese. Raised and educated in Yonkers, he graduated from Yonkers High School.
Most recently of New Fairfield, Conn., he worked as a freight handler at Home Depot, where he worked for more than 12 years.
Cortese married Karen Malara in New Rochelle on April 3, 1982. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She also volunteered with an elderly couple, driving them to stores.
He is survived by his wife; his father; a son, Christian; a daughter, Danielle; and two sisters, Karen Mastrorito and Kim Cortese. He was predeceased by his mother.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Jansen Hospice in Tuckahoe or Cancer Team of White Plains.
