YONKERS, N.Y. – Chester Sherman, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died Jan. 16. He was 84.
Born July 22, 1928, he was the son of Joseph and Stephanie Tzymanski Szymanski. He graduated from Saunders Trades and Technical High School and served in the Army. He married Rosemarie Castronuovo on Jan. 25, 1953. She predeceased him in 1969.
He married Margherita Tornaquidici in 1983. She predeceased him in 2008. Sherman retired from Eastern Tea Co. after 42 years.
Sherman is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie (Steven) Marescie; a sister-in-law, Tillie Sherman; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Al, Frank, William and John Sherman; and a sister, Gertrude Carestio.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home in Yonkers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers. Interment will be private.
